1 Introduction
This document defines Part 2: Release Profiles of the Electronic Release Notification Message Suite. It was developed by the member organisations of the Digital Data Exchange, LLC (DDEX). Any organisation wishing to implement this (or any other DDEX standard) is required to apply for an Implementation Licence. The terms of the licence and an application form can be found here and here.
Part 1 of the Electronic Release Notification Message Suite defines messages for the communication of release details, including information about their parts such as sound recordings, music videos or other resources as well as deal information about how the releases may be made available to consumers.
Such release descriptions can, however, vary between different uses. For instance, the description of a release that contains a single video ringtone track would differ greatly from the description of a release representing a digital equivalent of a ten-track pop album with previews. In order to aid companies that only wish to communicate a small subset of the types of releases that can be communicated using the Definition of Messages as defined in Part 1 of the Electronic Release Notification Message Suite, DDEX has developed this series of “profiles”.
This document defines a number of Release Profiles for common release types for communication using Version 4.3 of Part 1 of the ERN standard. The profiles are provided in two forms:
A summary of the differences between each of the Release Profiles and the messages defined in Part 1: Definitions of Messages of the Electronic Release Notification Message Suite; and
XML samples.
Complete and valid sample XML files supporting these Release Profiles are available for download from https://kb.ddex.net.
