5 Nomenclature

The following nomenclature is used in this part of the ERN standard.

  • 0-1 means that either none or one entity has to be included in the relevant profile;

  • 0-n means that either none, one or more entities may be included in the relevant profile;

  • 1 means that exactly one entity has to be included in the relevant profile; and

  • 1-n means that at least one entity has to be included in the relevant profile.

The term “optional” encompasses the two cardinality expressions “0-1” and “0-n”. The term “mandatory” encompasses the two cardinality expressions “1” and “1-n”.
